Author's E2K: June 2003
Welcome to the June issue of Net Author's E2K! Announcing Net Author's Third Annual Flash Fiction Contest! Each year, Net Author is pleased to encourage this genre by holding its own flash fiction contest. The entries are judged in a blind review format, and the winners receive both cash and publication rewards. First prize is worth $100 (usd), second receives $50, third and fourth each receive $25. Regardless of whether flash fiction is your area of specialty, your secret passion, or you've never even tried your hand at the genre, now is the time to polish it up and send it in. We're accepting submissions through July 15; winners will be published in the August, September, October, and November issues of Net Author's E2K. Interested? We hope so. You'll find a full description of the contest, contest rules, and the contest submission form at: http://netauthor.org/e2k/april2003/contest.html
In this issue, we're allowing ourselves a slight downshift as we work around our staff's travel schedules and prepare for both the breathing space of July's down time and the excitement of August's charge forward. In other words, while we opted to this month's issue to be a bit lean, don't expect that to be the norm; August's issue will be fascinating as we present the winners of the Flash Fiction Contest and our own staff returns to their usual column space. Having said that, we think you'll enjoy the always-welcome return of Marian Allen in this issue with her "Heart of Portland." Steve Lazarowitz reminds us that he's still alive--although one of his characters may not be--and you'll surely recognize the familiar poetic voices of Rongrong Yu and r l swihart.
