Welcome to the May issue of Net Author's E2K. There is absolutely nothing wrong with bragging a little now and again, and we'd like to take the opportunity to do just that. Inscriptions (http://www.inscriptionsmagazine.com), the weekly e-zine for professional writers, has chosen us as the Link of the Week for their current issue. They've also granted us an award for site design which, of course, is spurring us to finish the reorganization of the rest of the Net Author site. If you've been wondering about it, keep the faith--we'll soon have the rest of Net Author as clean and navigable as E2K. Still, we'll settle for the Inscriptions review for the moment:
Our Flash Fiction contest has officially stopped accepting entries, and we've had a bumper crop of submissions. We're excited about what we've seen crossing our desks, but now we're down to the hard part--actually choosing a winner. You may not be able to agonize with us, but you can certainly watch for next month's announcement in the June issue of E2K.
Last, but far from least, don't let the shorter table of contents for this month's issue fool you. While we may be a couple of selections less than usual this month, what we do have is slightly longer than usual, and we've certainly lost nothing in quality. In this month's issue we have the debut appearance of Debra Purdy Kong with her longer short about dreams and freedom, and Gene Schmidt with a startling short from a young boy's perspective. John Haynes returns to us with his thoughtful "Mr. B," and Kip Williams introduces a provoking series of images that you'll need to read twice. Sabina Becker, our poetry editor, reappears in her own column with an essay that fiction and creative nonfiction writers will find as engaging as their poet counterparts. The ever-faithful Julia Brown continues her book review column while Keith Deshaies has used his spare time this past month to enjoy a delayed honeymoon. We offer renewed congratulations to the Deshaies family, and look forward to his return next month with a new e-book review.
