Welcome to the May issue of Net Author's E2K!
Announcing Net Author's Third Annual Flash Fiction Contest! Each year, Net Author is pleased to encourage this genre by holding its own flash fiction contest. The entries are judged in a blind review format, and the winners receive both cash and publication rewards. First prize is worth $100 (usd), second receives $50, third and fourth each receive $25.
Regardless of whether flash fiction is your area of specialty, your secret passion, or you've never even tried your hand at the genre, now is the time to polish it up and send it in. We're accepting submissions through June 15; winners will be published in the July, August, September, and October issues of Net Author's E2K. Interested? We hope so. In this issue, we're breaking from our regular pattern and offering you a special Poetry Edition. Over the past several months, we've been incredibly fortunate to have a wealth of excellent poetry submissions, and that has meant that we've had poets scheduled for printing nearly a year in advance. While we're working on those submissions for the Flash Fiction Contest, we thought we'd take the opportunity to indulge your penchant for poetry and print a few of those patiently waiting poets in a poetry-only issue.

We've found that the publicity for the Flash Fiction contest hasn't quite gone out as quickly as we'd have liked, and in order to allow a little more time for contest entries, we're pushing back the deadline for those submissions until 15 July 2003. Winners will be announced in the 15 August 2003 issue of Net Author's E2K. Given the summer schedule and staff vacations, we're going to give ourselves a little breathing room and cancel the July issue of E2K. June will be published on schedule, and we'll bring the summer to a blazing close with the Flash Fiction contest results in the August issue. |
