Welcome to the October issue of Net Author's E2K.

Net Author's Annual Flash Fiction Contest. If you missed June's announcement of the contest winners, don't fret; we're listing them below for you, and you'll find our final story in this year's series--Debi Orton's "Blue"--in this month's issue. Remember, because we publish every month, we archive each month's journal under the "Archives" link. Don't hesitate to browse backwards if you missed an issue.

  • First Prize, $100: "Blind Leading," by Carlos Hernandez
  • Second Prize, $50: "Prodigal," by Marian Allen
  • Third Runner-up, $25: "Lessons in the Afternoon," by Lynn Bey
  • Fourth Runner-up, $25: "Morbid Like Sunshine," by Lucy A. E. Ward
  • Fifth Runner-up, $25: "Blue," by Debi Orton

In this month's issue--in addition to the Flash Fiction Contest story by Debi Orton, of course--we welcome Rebecca Marshall-Courtois with a delightful short story about that first-date experience, Richard Jordan's unexpected "Ladybug," and G. Todd Slone's chilled imagery. John Haynes introduces a poignant poem you'll want to come back to, and Lucy A. E. Ward returns to us with "Pin Lady." Linda Avery Bullock makes her debut with "7 Fatal Flaws," and our own Sabina Becker vents a little pent up frustration with a tongue-in-cheek--and cheeky--editorial.

Next publication date: 15 November 2002
